Over 200 kilometers of unforgettable views are offered by Małopolska’s new cycle route, VeloDunajec. Built-in accordance with the highest European standards, it has excellent markings and bicycle service points (MOR).

It crosses the picturesque areas of the Dunajec valley, with views of several mountain ranges: the Tatras, Gorce Mountains, Beskids, Pieniny.

While following its course, cyclists can reach the historic Church of St Michael the Archangel in Dębno Podhalańskie, the medieval Dunajec Castle in Niedzica, Pieniny National Park with the Dunajec Gorge, the pedestrian and cyclist footbridge over the Dunajec (which takes you across Poland -Slovakia border), the health resort in Szczawnica, the Sądecki Ethnographic Park, and the Monument to the Heroes of September 1939 in Biskupice Radłowskie, among other sites. In the area of ​​Lake Czorsztyn, VeloDunajec will form part of the route built within the land management project around the water reservoir.

From Stary Sącz to Ostrów it will overlap with EuroVelo11; while in Wietrzychowice it will join The Vistula Cycle Route. Altogether the route will be 237 kilometers long, starting in Zakopane and finishing in Wietrzychowice.

Despite the still-unfinished construction works, VeloDunajec in its present state is already an excellent option for spending leisure time, not only for seasoned cyclists but also for recreational cyclists, families with children, seniors, i.e. for absolutely everyone who wants to enjoy active leisure time outdoors, far from the urban hustle and bustle, surrounded by nature.

The trail runs 47% on roads separated from car traffic.

Due to the availability of accommodation, we suggest dividing the trail into four stages:

Stage 01 | Zakopane – Niedzica-Castle | approx. 60 km
Stage 02 | Niedzica-Zamek – Nowy Sącz | approx. 75 km
Stage 03 | Nowy Sącz – Tarnów| approx. 75 km
Stage 04 | Tarnów – Wietrzychowice | approx. 30 km

Note: If you don’t want to continue your trip, you should finish in Tarnów, because it is connected with Krakow.

How to get on the trail:
The beginning of the trail is well connected. You can reach to Zakopane by train from Krakow easily. The trail ends in Wietrzychowice. From here it is worth going further along The Vistula Cycle Route. If you don’t want to continue your trip, you should finish in Tarnów, because it is well connected with Krakow.\
